Founded in the mid-1980s, the Senesi Tartufai Association is now made up of about 300 members from all over the province of Siena. Its purpose is to promote the protection, harvesting, production and enhancement of truffles. This is made possible through the careful and targeted maintenance of the truffle zones by members and through an appropriate work of information and advertising. In fact, in 1985, the Senese Tartufai Association created the first White Truffle Market Exhibition of the Senese Crete. During the event it is still possible to buy the truffles collected by the members in the truffles managed by the association, thus ensuring traceability and provenance. Since 20
08, in symbiosis with the association, the Cooperative “The Truffle of the Senese Crete” was born. It carries out the marketing and processing of the three types of truffles present in the territory: the fine white truffle, the marzuolo or white dish and the scorzone.
